Times Of India ePaper

Times Of India ePaper

Do check out this link for the artcile on the popping plastic!

Popping Plastic!!!

When we were kids, we used to get these video games and ludo/chess packs wrapped, inside its cardboard box, with a type of plastic with bubbles on top of it. And, me and my sis used to compete as who got to pop the most bubbles....we'd tear the plastic in half, exactl...with measurements...and then procedd to pop the bubbles...till mom would get mad with all the noise and scream at us for making a racket!!!! It was fun to do that as kids.....

But, imagine what?!!! There is actually a study that devotes time to studying these plastics!!!! According to an 85 year old, popping these bubbles on the plastics is a form of preventing senility...and a 30 year old says that it helps her stay away from munching junk food while watching TV!!!

What we did as kids, for fun, is now considered therapeutic....I guess i should call up mom and tell her.."See, we weren't wrong in doing what we did...it was all meant for the good! " After all, all's well that ends well rite?!

All work and no play?

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy is what a popular rhyme says. But, what if the wrods work and play were to exchange positions? Would the "dull" remain, or would it too, be replaced with something else? As a kid, or a youngster, i would have said it changes to "gay!"....{Oho...gay as in happy...in case anybody reading this were to take it in another sense?!He he he..} But, things have changed over time, and i have grown up enough to realise, that though the above saying is quite true, the reverse, as per me, is quite wrong as well. That is, if only 'work' and 'play' were to reverse positions, dull would stay put...and maybe would be in all caps!!!!

Imagine how it is, sitting in front of the comp all day, but with nothing to do....thats how it is with me rite now, no projects, no deadlines,no work.....zero...zilch...nothing!!!! Abolutely nothing!!!! And i'm dead bored!!!! Yes ME........"I".......am bored, to death....even with my online games.....What do i do? Hmm.....update my blog? Maybe.....

But, complaining about no work reminds of something....something that our elders say..."Nazar mat lagana, warna yeh acha bhi bura ho jayega!"...'Dont think too much about it, or the good times will end soon!'....

And, its true enough, what with the kind of work we do....either you have a horde of articles to write and edit...with deadlines at your neck, inching forward in supersonic speeds......or you have nothing to do...like rite now!!!! So, i shall have to quite complaining, if i dont want to be flooded with work, as per Indian superstitions.....

So.....what exactly do i do????? Any suggestions please....i'm sick of sitting idle, and doing nothing.....Please Helllpppp!!!!!! i wonder how Jughead leads such a sedentery life? How does it work for him? Maybe because he's a fictional character...but, isnt fiction drawn from some aspect of life???? But, thats material for another post....maybe i'll write something about it later.....

Gosh,i'm rambling again...that's the result of no work...see, im going insane now??!!!! SO, hey guys, please gimme some ideas as to how i can kill boredome, and stay awake and alive for 9 hours with no work?!!!!

MONDAY'S CHILD IS FAIR OF FACE
by Mother Goose

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath Day,
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

What do you do, when you're supposed to sit in front of the computer from 9-30 am to 6-30pm, and your head office is closed, because it's a Saturday.....and there is no work.......

Nothing!!!!!! Right?!
Wrong, if you're me

Joseph Addison's famous quote says that "Irregularity and want of method are only supportable in men of great learning or genius.....". But, that is no excuse for someone like me to be irregular right? Or, is it a sign that says, that yours truly is, a hidden genius, a "Chhupa Rustam". Wishful thinking hunh?!!!

Irregularity seems to have become second nature to me, at least, as far as my week-old blog is concerned. i hardly visit it, and update it.....Hey!!! Maybe that can act as proof of how hard i work......shhhh!!!! At gaming, that is.....ask me about Tetris, or Blocky, or Flip Words, or Mahjong, or any other puzzle or online game.....u name it, and i've played it......but who would know, except me.....and oh, yeah...Vidwata, who actually sent me a mail reminding me that i could update my blog, instead of gaming....

Shameful you would say, wouldnt you?! But, appearances can deceive right, so why not have people thinking i'm too busy to update my blog.....sheesh!!!! Now look what have i done, let the cat out of the bag!!!! That's the worst thing about me, i either dont begin....but when i do, i wander off anf become so incoherent, that in the end, i end up wondering what was saying!

Which brings me to what i began with.....irregularity....which is becoming my poison, and leading me to my undoing...in public.......or, if all the readers of this blog were like Jim of Garfield, or maybe Moose from Archies,
then i'd be saved my reputation......Hi Jim!!! Read this one for now...i might be too busy to write another post in the near future!!!!

Hmm....."long time no see" said this friend who saw me this weekend....and thats what i felt like telling my blog........what with the Diwali weekend, and then the multi-party bandh that Kolkata saw on Monday. It seems ages since i could log on and update my blog.....and there's so much to talk about, i dont know where to begin?!

There's the Diwali bash we had at our firm, then the long-awaited meeting with my sis, and then Nandigram and the bandh.....what do i talk about and what not? Right now, i better not talk about much, and get back to my work...havent been working for the last 4 days in a row...need to get my butt off and get down to work....!!!

Promises are meant to be broken?!

Well....promises, traditionally, are considered brittle. And, it has been quite recently underscored by yours truly!!!! If i remember correctly, i had said i would keep up regularly updating my blog, but the very next day i missed!!!! What luck!

No office, no blogging! So, i shall definitely make sure to come to office regularly, if i have to keep up my 3-day old hale and hearty! It's after all like a new baby, and needs quite some looking after! Taking care comprising of managing templates instead of nappies and feeding times!!!! Gosh....how difficult it must be to manage a baby...thank God i just have a blog!

Oh! am i rambling again? Well thats exactly what i've got this baby for, rite! No...let me not bore anybody who's reading this, and just go on and check out if i have some work to do......bye!!

Yippeee!!!!

This is going to sound extremely childish.....but i have been logging onto my blog on and off, to see if someone has read it, and posted any comments......and yes......i got one!!!! You know, how it is when kids are promised with candies for doing something/or,not doing something!!!! That comment was like a candy, gave me incentive to carry on.....and that is exactly what i shall do.....unless however i find other comments that say otherwise!

i have also made up my mind, to write small i's, ala Bachi Kakkaria of Times Of India Editorial fame.....oh how i love the way she writes, and the way Jug Suraiya writes too....in fact, yesterday I told my mom-in-law i wouldnt cook, because i was busy reading their Sunday Columns!!!!

neways, gotta go now....i'm misutilizing official resources you see.....writing a blog from office, instead of doing work.....quick before someone catches me...bye!!!!

Eureka!!!!

Finally I got around creating one! A blog that is!!!! And, thanks to Vidwata for that!!! Inspiration has always come to me from unsuspecting sources, and Vidwata Mohta, the new employee in our still-quite-new firm has inspired me to begin a blog. I have been thinking for quite a while that I need to have one, but somehow never got around making it. Now, finally, I have a blog all of my own, where I can outpour whatever comes to the consciousness/sub-consciouness/or even the ego part of my grey and white cells on the top floor!

And, that somehow takes me back to my days of psychology at Loreto College....but no, there's work now, and I cant ramble on....so lets save that for a later post!!!

And, as I have finally got around making one, I hope to keep updating it frequently, and I hope you(whoever you are!!!) will read, and comment and let me know if I should continue, or just scrap the idea. Just be sparing with the criticism though, I'm a little vulnerable to harsh words!!!
